Be Inspired: A promise to save the planet and the pennies
A New Horizon
At the start of the year, many of you will have made a New Year’s resolution or two - and perhaps by now you may have even broken it! If yours was to make a big life change, like moving house, then it is still possible to achieve that.
Or perhaps, like us, you’ve made a promise to the planet. With each of us aware that we all have a part to play in tackling climate change - and energy costs at an all time high - then you may have vowed to reduce the energy you consume.
A Brave New World
Alone, however, you might feel like any changes you’re making are insignificant, but with Big Energy Saving Week fast approaching, we’re here to remind you that together, these small changes can amount to incredible things.
We know that household energy consumption accounts for approximately a third of the world’s CO2 emissions and reducing the amount of energy we use could significantly reduce that figure. Even just the items you buy have the potential to improve lives for generations to come.
A Ripple Effect
Did you know that going vegetarian for just one day a week can save 563KG of CO2 per year and leave you £189 better off?
When you think of all of the residents living in Countryside homes, you can really begin to appreciate the impact we could make if we work as one.
A Saving Grace
At our Abbotsfield development, for instance, there will be 338 households in total. If everyone living there eats an extra vegetarian meal each week, that’s almost 200,000kg of CO2 emissions saved.
But it doesn’t stop there! Dutton Fields is a collection of 156 homes, at Belle Vue there will be 247, at Rivers Edge there will be another 513 and Siskin Park 186 - together the future residents could save more than 600,000 kg of CO2.
A Taste of Things to Come
With billions of people on the planet, you quickly begin to see how just one person can make a change that echoes across the globe.
