First Time Buyers: Make Your Dream a Reality in 2022

Lymington

Getting on the property ladder is a common ambition for many, but can often feel like a pipe dream, particularly for younger people.

However, an increase in working from home has opened new options for those looking to get on the property ladder, who are now less concerned by commuting distances. Indeed, more Londoners are buying outside the capital than at any time since 2007, with first-time buyers making up nearly a quarter of these statistics.

It is proving an attractive time for many to realise their dream of home ownership. There has been an increase in first-time buyers over the past year as people have been able to get on to the property ladder thanks to the extra savings they have built up in part due to national restrictions during the pandemic.

So, 2022 could just be the year that you snap up your first property and, with the right assistance, you may be able to do so even sooner than you think.

Zoe (35) and Liz (25) were able to make their dream a reality with the help of the government-backed Help to Buy equity loan scheme, which enabled them to buy their first home with just a 5% deposit. The young couple had anticipated months of scrimping and saving but upon reviewing their finances, realised they could afford to buy much quicker than they thought.

When the pair found their dream home at Countryside’s Stonefield Edge development in Bilston, they didn’t hold back. They are delighted with their four-bedroom Dunham property, which is spacious enough for a home office and also boasts a large garden, allowing them to strike the perfect balance between work life and down time. Zoe said:

“Our jaws hit the ground when we saw the living space with the skylight windows… we couldn't believe we could afford it.”

Zoe and Liz also praised the support they received from Countryside’s sales team throughout the entire purchase process, helping them to make the most of the support available to them.
