Army brothers Daniel and Ryan swap their tents for a two-bedroom apartment in Beaulieu Oaks

Brothers and first-time buyers Daniel (security officer, 31) and Ryan (police officer, 23) Squibb have purchased a two-bedroom apartment in Beaulieu Oaks, looking for a good investment but also finding the perfect place to call home for the foreseeable future. Prior to taking this step, Daniel and Ryan served in the army between 2013 and 2018. Right before moving to Beaulieu Oaks, they lived in a 3-bedroom rented apartment with their family but decided it was high time to take that next step.

Daniel comments: “My brother and I were both very keen to get on the property ladder. We knew we had to make a decision on buying a home or else risk remaining a part of generation rent. When we saw our apartment in Beaulieu, the first thing we really liked was the interior design. The moment we walked in, we had a feeling that this was the place for us. You can see that there is a high specification throughout and the apartment feels very finished - with integrated appliances and flooring meaning that we were able to move in with minimum extra costs.”

He adds: As we both work quite a lot, we don’t have that much time to spare. Having everything ready so we could move in with no hassle was a big plus for us.”

Daniel and his brother were able to leverage London’s Help to Buy scheme to buy their home in Beaulieu. Through this government scheme, buyers are able to purchase a home in Beaulieu with as little as 5% of the home’s deposit. It also opens the door for government equity loans of up to 20% of the purchase price.

Highlighting other elements that attracted Daniel and his brother to the development, he says: “We were looking for more than just a nice apartment and in this sense, Beaulieu really delivers. We already knew the development had a good reputation in Chelmsford which made us curious to see what it could offer. For starters, you can feel there’s a friendly community atmosphere here. Also, when walking around the development, the green spaces and landscaped areas really give you a sense of calm after a heavy day at work. Another benefit is having good transport links, with Chelmsford, London and Stansted all being within reach.”
