By the turn of the century the original post-war concrete slab houses at Christian Fields were dilapidated and rotten with damp and the estate had spiraled into decline with problems such as unemployment, crime and anti-social bahaviour making life very difficult for residents.
Comprehensive redevelopment was required and Gravesham Borough Council selected Moat and Countryside, working with PRP Architects to carry it out.
The vision was clear: to put residents first.
Residents wanted a place where people loved to live.
Nearly a decade later and after many challenging years that's precisely what has been achieved.
The transformation has seen some £75m invested and the 208 original homes have been replaced with 426 high quality new ones.
