A perfect destination for any modern family
Charlotte and Craig Read were already living in Chigwell just over three years ago, when they made the big decision to start their married life in a new home that they could call their own. Having grown up in the vicinity, they saw the newly launched Oaklands Hamlet as the perfect destination to purchase their first home.
The Reads fondly recall moving into their two-bedroom Newbury apartment on the development, which they purchased using the Help to Buy scheme. Despite being the first residents to move into the development, they quickly settled in and continue living there today with a new addition to their family: their one-year-old son, Henry.
Oaklands Hamlet spans an awe-inspiring 53 acres, half of which is made up of open green spaces. The development also boasts two country parks, a bandstand, cycleway and bridleway. It can’t be beaten when it comes to offering the ideal environment to take the family out for a Sunday walk or bike ride. The area surrounding the development is also wonderful, with residents able to enjoy scenes comprised of open fields and even two pristine golf courses that are located right next to the development.
Charlotte and Craig were drawn to Oaklands Hamlet from a holistic perspective. For them, it represented the full package given that it was ideally situated close to family while also being a short commute to the City. Both Charlotte and Craig highlight how for them, Oaklands Hamlet hit the sweet spot.
Summarizing what makes it a wonderful place to live in, Charlotte says: “One of the things that really drew us to the development was being able to live in a green and tranquil setting, which we felt was the ideal backdrop in which to raise a child in. Of course, it’s also great that we did not have to compromise on convenience, thanks to the excellent transport links and having Chigwell’s centre nearby.”
Charlotte continues: “For me, it’s lovely that we have the golf course nearby and so much greenery right on our doorstep. From the perspective of someone who has just started a family, I love that having a nice afternoon walk is always an option. Having easy access to green open spaces was certainly an important factor we took into account when we were looking to buy our first home.”
As a couple who were in their late 20s at the time of buying, Charlotte and Craig expressed how valuable the Help to Buy scheme was, which allowed them to purchase an apartment that “exceeded their expectations. Along with this, they highlight the excellent value for money that they felt they got with their 2-bedroom Newbury apartment. This combination of having access to the Help to Buy scheme and the high specifications within the apartment meant that they were able to move in very happily and with no hesitation.
The interior design of their apartment in Oaklands Hamlet is another element that Charlotte and Craig have praised: “The space was very well laid out and we were impressed with the high specifications and integrated kitchen appliances. Being a new build, everything about the apartment felt fresh and the décor was neutral which allowed us to really make our own mark in our new home.”
The homes at Oaklands Hamlet are designed to excellent standards, exuding character and style. There is something to suit every taste and requirement. From 2-5 bedroom homes for young professionals, families and retirees, to 1 and 2 bedroom apartments for first time buyers. Homes come equipped with neutral wall tones, wood-effect flooring, soft carpets and fitted wardrobes in the master bedroom, which all complement each other perfectly. Residents moving in can expect to find classic layouts with sleek bathrooms and well-appointed contemporary kitchens. Each home is designed to maximise sustainability and benefits from A-rated kitchen appliances.
“Given the chance”, says Craig, “we would definitely look to buy with Countryside again, purely because of the great customer service and because we were so happy with the finish of our property. The high-quality finish, flooring which came as standard and fitted appliances, allowed us to move in directly with no stress. At the same time, the apartment still felt like a blank canvas that we could accessorize to make it our own.”
Thanks to the good rapport they had with their Countryside-recommended mortgage adviser, the Reads also felt at ease with the whole buying process. As first-time buyers, they took delight in the fact that their mortgage adviser, Anna, was so attentive and helpful. They felt that she offered them a good deal that felt just right for them.
In addition to being a wonderful place to call home, Oaklands Hamlet benefits from excellent proximity to transport connections, making it easy to reach while providing links to local towns and further afield. Hainault tube station on the Central line connects to central London, the wider underground network and mainline train stations. Chadwell Heath mainline station, just 3.5 miles away, is also set to benefit from Crossrail, providing even faster and more direct connections to the city and beyond. For national and international air travel, Stansted Airport is within a 40-minute drive via the M11.
