Q&A with Michael Wray
Why did you decide to make your home purchase now?
Prior to buying our new home at St Luke’s just a few days ago, I was living in my father’s house in Wickford. But I decided it was time to get a place of my own and started looking to move into a new home with Stephanie.
My father and a good friend of mine had previously visited St Luke’s Park before and had spoken very highly of the development so I was keen to visit some of the homes. In fact, my friend ended up buying a home here as well.
Needless to say, I really liked what I saw from the beginning. I first visited in early January and then visited once again with Stephanie in March.
It’s possible some might think that now, being in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, means that it’s not a good time to buy. But there were a number of reasons why I was glad to have gone through with the decision to purchase. I had money saved for my deposit and I thought that now, more than ever, would be the best time to get a good deal for a home.
This, coupled with the fact that the communications with Countryside’s Sales Consultants flowed very well throughout the buying process, gave me the confidence to move ahead with the purchase even during this time.
How did you find the process of doing a remote reservation?
To be honest, I found the whole process easy. The Sales Consultants at Countryside were responsive, even remotely, which made the purchase process very straightforward. We were also connected with a mortgage advisor and a solicitor, which was great.
I was keen on getting a good deal for the new home and I felt that the negotiations with Countryside went well and I was happy with the outcome. I would encourage others not to be put off by the idea of doing a remote reservation as based on my experience, I believe it’s a good time to buy now.
How have you kept in contact with the sales team?
Initially, we were able to drop by to speak to the Sales Consultants in person but more recently, the communications with the sales team was mainly done through email and phone and this worked just fine for us.
There was a high level of responsiveness shown by the Sales Consultants throughout the whole buying process and we were able to keep in contact regularly to ensure a smooth experience.
Did you physically view the show homes or did you have an online virtual tour of them?
We were lucky enough to have been able to visit our home physically. Even more recently, we still managed to walk around inside once it was completed, while the Sales Consultant waited outside to respect social distancing guidelines. I have to say, I am very pleased that we went ahead with our decision to purchase.
For starters, I really liked that the home had a very high specification and came equipped with top-notch equipment in the kitchen. I also loved the fact that the living room and kitchen were open plan, which gave the impression of having lots of space to host guests or simply relax. Another highlight of the interior of the home were the rooms. In particular, the en suite master bedroom I thought was outstanding.
On top of the impressive interior of the home, I thought that having a well-sized turfed garden was another major benefit that came with The Aspen. That’s something you don’t see too often in new build sites generally.
Looking at the wider development of St Luke’s Park, there was also a lot to love on this front as well. First of all, it is in a very convenient location as I work locally. I was also impressed by how nice all the homes look and the fact that there is space between them. Countryside have really put thought into that and it’s not like in other developments where homes are on top of each other. It’s also wonderful to have some key shops and a bus service right on your doorstep. The development as a whole, really gives off a nice village feel.
Overall, the key thing that attracted me to St. Luke’s Park was that I could really see myself living here in the long run.
Would you recommend others to reserve their home now in the same way?
Absolutely. I believe that the conditions are ripe for buying now and being able to negotiate a good deal on a home. A bold decision to purchase now can pay off down the line. And following my recent experience, I’d certainly recommend others to buy from Countryside.
