Rochester Riverside crowned the “Winner of Winners” at the Housing Design Awards 2020
Rochester Riverside, our flagship regeneration project in partnership with Hyde, has received the highest accolade and been named the Winner of Winners at this year’s prestigious Housing Design Awards. This is following the development also being awarded the Building for a Better Life Award for its work in Phase 1B.
Having worked closely with architects BPTW, Homes England and Medway Council, Rochester Riverside is set to create a new mixed-tenure community of up to 1,400 new homes with a primary school, nursery, as well as a hotel, commercial units, parking, open green spaces and landscaping over the next 12 years.
This double award victory recognises Rochester Riverside’s revival of waterside living in this once forgotten part of Medway and the way in which the design and architecture has ensured residents’ health and wellbeing are at the heart of the scheme.
Launched by the government in 1948, the Housing Design Awards champion skill and innovation in housebuilding and planning. The awards operate as a cross-industry partnership between various arms of government, the private sector and all five major professional institutions - RICS, RIBA, RPTI, Landscape Institute and Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.
With more Housing Design Awards than any other housebuilder, Countryside has a reputation for high-quality design and this award win reflects our commitment to creating places people love.
This year’s awards were presented online by Gareth Capner, Chairman of the Housing Design Awards and Rt Hon. Chris Pincher, Minister of State for Housing and the final awards ceremony can be viewed here
