Tryfonas Theophilou Case Study

Tryfonas purchases at Dash

City professional swaps renting and the Underground for his dream home and a walk to work

Tryfonas Theophilou, 31, had been house-hunting for nearly four years before he came across Dash, by Countryside, in Hoxton. Like many young professionals, Tryfonas had done a fair share of renting living in south, north and east London, having moved to the UK capital from Cyprus in 2009 to continue his studies.

Tryfonas, who now works for a bank in the City, eventually narrowed his search down to the N1 area, including Angel and Old Street, knowing that living there would mean an easy commute to work. He soon realised that out of all the locations he’d looked at, Hoxton offered particularly good value, and was less than a 30-minute walk from Bank station, where his office is based.

According to research published by Trades Union Congress, the average commuting time across the UK reached 59 minutes per journey last year, making properties located in close proximity to major employment hubs, like the City or Silicon Roundabout, highly sought after. Only six percent of the UK population are lucky enough to be living close to their workplaces to be able to walk to work, which helps to shorten their working day and avoid stressful commutes.

It was on his way to see a second-hand property close by to Dash, that Tryfonas first discovered the development and immediately had to arrange a viewing.

“When I saw Dash, I immediately lost interest in the upcoming viewing. I had a couple of minutes to spare, so I rushed into the Dash marketing suite and made an appointment.”

Tryfonas, who has now moved into his new home, fell in love with the development and made an offer on a one-bedroom apartment just five days later.

Now fully settled, he couldn’t be happier with his purchase: “I like the fact that my apartment is contemporary and flexible. You can tell that whoever designed it wanted to make life at home easy.

I love the sleek design, high-quality finishes, and with the lockdown, I get to fully appreciate my balcony overlooking the church, as well as the rooftop, where I spend most of my weekends.”

Dash is Countryside’s boutique collection of 47 one and two-bedroom apartments and duplexes set within a minimalist brick building in the heart of Hoxton.

Built around a communal courtyard, the development is modelled on the latest trends in urban design with clever and contemporary landscaping to match. Dash boasts a roof terrace with stunning views of the City and its own herb garden; every apartment and duplex benefits from private outdoor space.

Surrounded by vast amounts of green space, Dash is a short walk from Regents Canal, which runs through Hoxton. Residents benefit from a number of fantastic amenities within walking distance, which include BoxPark, home to numerous street food vendors, pop-up shops and bars; Columbia Road flower market, Brick Lane with its authentic curry restaurants, art exhibitions, clubs and bars; and the Barbican Centre, a performing arts centre housed in an impressive brutalist building.

Dash benefits from excellent transport links, with Old Street tube station just 0.3 miles away and Hoxton Overground station only 0.5 miles away. For residents’ convenience, Dash also offers cycle storage facilities, and a 12-month car club subscription. Furthermore, residents can also take advantage of the electronic postal collection service, Bringme.
