Want to know more about life at Rochester Riverside?
Claire Fletcher, 34, has been a resident at Rochester Riverside since last July, swapping life in the capital for a waterside retreat in Kent, having grown up nearby. Since then, Claire has immersed herself in what’s fast becoming a thriving waterside community.
“Having moved into my home in July, it has been really exciting to watch everything develop around me. Having the Co-op literally on my doorstep is very convenient, and there is also a M&S and Aldi nearby,” said Claire.
As the area continues to flourish, retail and local hospitality amenities have increased adding more feathers to the historic town centre’s cap. In addition to the Co-op, Rochester Riverside has seen the opening of Costa Coffee and Travelodge, allowing for convenience and transforming Rochester into a desired travel destination.
The community living aspect has also been a highlight for Claire. She continued: “As more people moved into the block, we decided to create a WhatsApp group, which has been amazing! We have become a really good group of friends and meet fairly often for a glass of wine at each other’s places or head to the high street for dinner.”
“It works out well because we are all around the same age and most of us work in London, so we have a lot in common and seem to be at the same stages in our lives. It is so nice to be surrounded by like-minded people and know you can count on someone for help when needed!”
Claire works in the television industry in London and commutes from Rochester to Kings Cross every day. The development is located a three-minute walk from Rochester train station, running services into London St Pancras in just 37 minutes and London Victoria in just 52 minutes.
“When I was house hunting, I knew Kent would be a perfect location as I grew up here. I needed somewhere peaceful but also vibrant, fun and with easy access to London, making Rochester the perfect location for me. By living here, I have the option of going into Soho for cocktails and dinner or walking down to the high street and enjoying my evenings at bars like Smoke and Liquor,” Claire added.
Working with Hyde, Rochester Riverside is our brand-new community located on the banks of the River Medway. Over the next 12 years, the development will create up to 1,400 new homes and facilities for the area, with a number of new homes and amenities already complete at the development. This includes 91 homes, retail and leisure facilities, with provisions for a school and nursery to cater to the numerous families already living at the development. Countryside and Hyde will also create a play area and a 2.5km river walkway as part of the project.
