From wedding bells to door keys for Bilston first time buyers
For first time buyers, Jess and Ben, 2020 was meant to be the year they said ‘I do’ but when, like so many would-be newly weds, their nuptials were put on hold, the couple decided to invest in a brand new home instead.
Jess (27) and Ben (24) had always planned to get married first and then buy a house but, when the restrictions were put in place in March 2020, they found their wedding plans suddenly up in the air. So the couple turned their minds and bank balances to house hunting and soon found their three-bedroom dream home at Countryside’s Stonefield Edge development, where prices start from £249,995.
Jess commented: “We’d been saving for our first home for over two years but the plan was always to buy after our wedding. As our wedding plans became less certain, we decided to shift our thinking and use our time and money to fulfil our other dream. Before we knew it, we'd discovered Stonefield Edge at Bilston Urban Village, found our dream home, and reserved it virtually. We’re now settled in and we couldn’t be happier!
“The location of Stonefield Edge is perfect for us, as we’re so close to family and only three miles away from Wolverhampton city centre. The home itself is also beautiful - we fell in love with the velux windows straight away!”
To help them get onto the property ladder, Jess and Ben used the government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme, which meant they could buy their three bedroom New Calder home with just a 5% deposit.
Jess continued: “The Help to Buy scheme was really easy and allowed us to buy the house we wanted now, rather than having to opt for a smaller one then move again in a few years. It was all quite straightforward and everything was sorted out for us.
“We always wanted to buy a new build home so we could move in and be happy with it straightaway, rather than having to do renovations or wait for the kitchen to be fitted. With Countryside we were able to choose our kitchen cabinets and worktops beforehand, so it was all fitted by the time we got the keys. We love it - especially the master bedroom on the top floor with the skylight windows, which make it so light and bright.”
Jess added: “2020 wasn’t the year we expected and it was a tough decision to move our wedding date to February 2023, but we’re so happy we decided to buy our new home together - and are absolutely thrilled that we found and chose Countryside. We had a really good experience and the sales team was always there to help us. We have lots of time now to concentrate on making our house a home."
Adam Daniels, Managing Director, Countryside West Midlands, commented: “2020 was a tough year for everyone but we’re so proud that we’re still able to make new home dreams happen for our buyers. Our virtual reservation process is a great success and allows us to support our buyers from the comfort of their own homes. We want to wish Jess and Ben all the very best in their new home and for their wedding.”
