Beam Park: Second largest housing scheme in London to gain permission in 2018
The start of a new year is not only a great time to look ahead but also to reflect on the year that has just passed and 2018 certainly proved memorable.
For me, the highlight had to be clinching the green light for planning at Beam Park, which made all the hard work worthwhile. Furthermore, this means the £1bn East London development is the second largest housing scheme in London to gain permission!
At Countryside, we don’t just build homes and leave. We take the time to understand an area; getting to grips with its heritage and the needs of the local people and creating places people truly love. At Beam Park, we have listened to the local community and put together a proposal that benefits the residents who will live and breathe in it. Regenerating the derelict site of a former Ford manufacturing plant into a new and vibrant destination, we will be delivering over 3,000 homes across 29 hectares. The development is also one of only three regeneration schemes in the Capital delivering more than 2,500 homes and providing 50% affordable housing. At Beam Park, this equates to 1,513 affordable homes, creating a mixed community with significant infrastructure investment, even including a new railway station.
We are thrilled to have this incredible opportunity to regenerate this part of the capital together with L&Q, one of the UK’s leading housing associations and one of London’s largest developers, and the GLA, land owner and partner, ensuring that the new Beam Park community is sustainable and cohesive for generations to come.
