Countryside wins Best Residential Developer at Construction News Awards 2020
We are proud to have won the Best Residential Developer award at this year’s Construction News Awards 2020.
As the UK’s leading mixed-tenure developer with a track record of creating communities for over 60 years, this recognition is testament to the hard work our teams up and down the country have put in.
This prestigious award highlights those companies that make strides in housing and construction strategy, delivering high-quality product and a commitment to innovative initiatives which uphold sustainability and local planning practices.
2019 was a trailblazing year for Countryside. Most notably, our modular panel factory in Warrington became operational which will enhance our capabilities to produce homes at pace whilst continuing to maintain the high-quality standards we set ourselves.
With these improved modern methods of construction (MMC) functions, the £6-million facility enables us to produce over 1,000 new homes a year in a more efficient and timely way to help meet housing requirements at a local level.
With a truly unique approach to mixed-tenure development, our work led us to a 33% rise in housing completions in 2019. Year on year, we realise we have a growing responsibility to work with local authorities, housing associations and contractors in order to continue supplying much-needed homes.
Besides our expertise in housebuilding, we are committed to the places we build in order to nurture not just a development, but a community. Throughout 2019, we organised and held a number of community events from Greenwich Millennium Village in south east London to Beaulieu – our masterplan community of over 3,000 new homes – on the outskirts of Chelmsford, to support the ongoing development of these communities as residents continue to move in.
Last November, we signed the Armed Forces Covenant with The Royal School of Military Engineering to showcase our commitment to the armed forces community of ex-servicemen and women. This signing reflects our strategic aim to be an employer which values the skills and experience of former veterans and armed forces personnel in the housebuilding sector. This is one of the many aspects which highlights how we work and support the communities that surround our developments.
In 2020, we have been building on this commitment to communities right around the country. In response to the pandemic, we launched our Countryside Communities Fund – a £1-million pledge to support charities, food banks and voluntary groups throughout an unprecedented year.
Commitments like these have continued throughout 2020, with an extension to the initial fund allocation, and a further £1-million now available, as we positively look forward as one team. As a new year approaches, we have plans in place to further our work in sustainability, mental health awareness, opportunities for young people and the social value contributions of our developments, to name a few.
Many thanks once again to Construction News for this exceptional award and many congratulations to those shortlisted.
