Volunteers from Countryside transform garden at Millard House care home

Countryside employees recently visited Millard House care home in Braintree, Essex, where they spent the day working in the garden. Funds were provided for new plants and a jet washer, while Dunmow Waste Management also donated a skip. The seven volunteers from Countryside transformed the care home’s previously unused outdoor space into a beautiful garden for residents to enjoy during the summer months.

The team began by clearing out the unwanted weeds and compost heap, followed by a general clean-up of the area. Lastly, the volunteers planted a number of new colourful plants and flowers. The result is a complete garden makeover, creating a new shared space in which Millard House’s elderly residents can sit, socialise and relax.

Sue Wells, Administrator at Millard House, thanked Countryside for its contribution, saying: “On behalf of the residents, staff and management, I would like to thank all the volunteers for their donations, as well as their hard work in helping to transform our garden. This space was previously unused, so it’s wonderful that we now have an additional area where residents can sit and enjoy the fresh air.”

Millard House is a family-run care home for the elderly, which is committed to improving the lives of its residents.

At Countryside, we know how important organisations like Millard House are to local communities, and we are always looking for new ways to provide support. We had a fantastic day working in the garden at Millard House and we hope the residents enjoy their new outdoor space now that the sun is shining!
