Beam Park shortlisted at the NLA Awards 2019
We are pleased to announce that Beam Park has been shortlisted in the Masterplans & Area Strategies category at the New London Awards 2019, organised by New London Architecture (NLA).
Masterplanned by Patel Taylor Architects, Beam Park is a 3,000-home regeneration scheme in East London being delivered by Countryside and L&Q. The Masterplans and Area Strategies category recognises area-wide regeneration strategies and the creation of new parts of London, looking for placemaking at its best.
The development was the second largest housing scheme in the UK to gain planning permission in 2018, and one of only three regeneration schemes in London delivering 3,000 homes and providing 50% affordable housing. At Beam Park, this equates to 1,513 affordable homes, which will be provided by L&Q, creating a mixed community with significant infrastructure investment.
When the masterplan is complete in 2030, Beam Park will also deliver an additional school, retail spaces, a gym, nursery, community facilities, a multi-faith space, and two energy centres. Around 44% of the development has been allocated for publicly accessible green space, including a three-hectare central park in the heart of the development with the River Beam running through it.
The New London Awards recognise the very best projects across 14 sectors of the built environment, rewarding projects that contribute to make London a better place in which to live, work and socialise.
The People’s Choice Award will also be awarded at the ceremony, a prize which is voted for by the public. You can vote for Beam Park by visiting the NLA website.
The winning schemes will be announced on 3 July at NLA’s Annual Lunch at The Guildhall, attended by more than 700 leading professionals and London policy makers.
We are delighted to receive this nomination, which is proof of the quality of the plans for Beam Park.
