Countryside teams up with ELBA to donate Christmas presents to east London children

This Christmas, Countryside teamed up with the East London Business Alliance (ELBA) to donate gifts to children whose families are struggling financially.

The ELBA Toy Appeal is an annual initiative that offers companies a chance to donate a present to children in the east London community. Christmas is a time for family, friends, food and exchanging gifts, but for many families the festive period can be difficult financially. Through the ELBA Toy Appeal, children who may not otherwise receive a gift are given a present, helping to bring cheer and happiness to this special time of year.

Volunteers from Countryside have been busy collecting and donating toys to support more than 50 community organisations, including children’s centres, hospital wards, food banks, primary schools, community centres, adventure playgrounds, and women’s refuges. The families and children these organisations work with come from a range of backgrounds – some may be fleeing domestic violence or living in extreme poverty, whilst others may be children caring for older relatives.

At last year’s ELBA Toy Appeal, more than 10,000 toys were donated and distributed to children in east London and Islington. At Countryside, we are always looking for new ways to support the people and communities in which we work. Supporting the ELBA Toy Appeal and Toy Dash is a small thing that businesses can do to make a big difference to children and families at Christmas time.
